Bursitis

Bursas are fluid filled sacs found between muscles, skin, tendons and bone that provide lubrication in order to reduce friction and irritation. Bursitis can develop when these sacs become inflamed or torn as a result of direct trauma, repetitive stress, friction or pressure.

Alongside the more common symptoms such as heat, swelling, pain, lameness and tenderness, bursitis can also manifest in less obvious ways such as; limited movement of the leg or shoulder, reluctance to move forward and even behavioural changes.

Once diagnosed and treated appropriately, chiropractic treatment and massage can then be very effective in loosening up the related soft tissue, restoring flexibility and alleviating pressure and friction over the affected bursa.
